A replacement shell is only the casing, buttons and, depending on the model, a flip blade. The original circuit board and transponder must be working and transferred without damage; changing the shell does not create a new key or repair electronic faults. Compatibility is checked by vehicle make, model, year, internal layout, button count, blade and transponder position. Assessment and assembly take place at the physical shop.
