The cylinder is the component that accepts the key and operates the lock. On a Euro-profile cylinder, each side is measured from the central fixing screw so it is neither too long nor too short. Double-entry, internal-turn and half-cylinder versions are available. Drill, pick, bump or snap resistance is only claimed when documented for the selected model; final security also depends on the lock case, security escutcheon and fitting.
